Abstract

882,128. Winding yarns. COMPAGNIE DE SAINT-GOBAIN. May 4, 1959 [June 9, 1958], No. 15156/59. Class 120(2) In apparatus for automatically changing bobbins in winding textile strands, bobbins are movable transversely to the strand in such a way that an empty bobbin takes the place of a bobbin which has just been filled, the strand being wound on the empty bobbin without ceasing to occupy the same mean position which it occupied during winding on the preceding bobbin, and each bobbin is mounted on a separate frame which carries the mechanism for rotating the bobbin, such that the bobbin's may be moved relatively to one another. In the arrangement shown the strand is being wound on bobbin 1 driven from motor 2, the strand being traversed by guide 4 driven by motor 5. Just before winding on bobbin 1 ends a counter or timer starts the motor 2a to rotate the bobbin 1a. At the same time motor 11a starts and moves the frame 6a to bring the bobbin 1a close to the bobbin 1. This movement stops when cam 23a contacts switch 24a. When winding on bobbin 1 is finished motor 9 is started and this through suitable drive means moves both frame 6, 6a together with bobbins 1 and 1a from right to left so that winding is transferred from bobbin 1 to bobbin 1a. After the frames have been moved the required distance cam 25a on frame 6a actuates switch 26a to stop the motor 9. Motor 2 driving bobbin 1 also stops and motor 11 starts up to move the frame 6 away from frame 6a. The frame 6 can then be tilted forward by the operator the full bobbin removed and replaced by an empty bobbin. The reverse procedure takes place when the bobbin 1a is full.
