Abstract

881,613. Electrophotographic printing paper. WARREN CO., S. D. May 24, 1960 [June 22, 1959; Feb. 19, 1960], No. 18267/60. Class 96. [Also in Group XXXVI] Paper for electrophotographic printing may be made from bleached chemical wood pulp, clay filler and rosin size; it may have a base coat of clay, casein, styrene-butadiene, ureaformaldehyde, sulphonated tallow and tributyl phosphate; and has a surface coating of finely divided, photoconductive zinc oxide and a copolymer of vinyl acetate (e.g. 85 to 98%) and crotonic acid (e.g. 2 to 15%) which may be applied as an aqueous solution of a salt of a volatile alkali (ammonia or an amine) with the zinc oxide suspended therein. The paper may be calendered, e.g. before and after surfacecoating.
