Abstract

881,558. Moulding sweets. MELZI & CO., E. March 28, 1960. No. 10931/60. Class 87(2). A machine for moulding sweets from a rope of filled confectionery material comprises contrarotating wheels 1 and 2 having moulding recesses 3 and 4 around their peripheries, the wheel 1 being also formed with a ring of chambers 8 interconnected by tapered slots 10 and aligned with the recesses 3, and with a second ring of chambers 9 coaxial with the chambers 8. The wheel 1 is also fitted with two series of plungers 11, 13 and 12, 14 coaxial with the recesses 3 and chambers 8, 9, the plungers being operated in succession against the action of springs 15 by mechanism which is not described. The rope 21 is fed between the recesses 3, 4 and formed thereby into a chain of interconnected sweets, and each sweet is pushed by one of the plungers 11, 13 through the associated chamber 8 so that it is severed from the rope by the action of the tapered slot 10. The head 13 of the plunger 11 then co-operates with the head 14 of the plunger 12 in the associated chamber 9 to complete the moulding of the sweet 22, and the latter is then removed from the chamber between the heads of the plungers and ejected from the machine into a receptacle by one of a series of camactuated pistons 17 which operate through a rubber ring 16.
