Abstract

881,292. Coincidence range finders. MELLABORA G.m.b.H. April 24, 1959 [April 30, 1958], No. 14124/59. Class 97(1). A range finder has a casing formed with a pair of apertures, an observation opening opposite one of said apertures and two reflectors, one only partially reflecting and the other rotatable arranged in the light paths through said apertures so that they form two images of the object in the observation opening in known manner; the casing may also house a battery operated source of light to illuminate the object; the said other reflector is connected to a lever which is rotatable by means of an angularly and axially displaceable cylindrical member which engages the lever at a point thereon the distance of which from the pivot of the lever varies according to the amount by which the cylindrical member has been axially moved; a scale is provided on said member indicating the distance between the object and the range finder. In the range finder shown light from a bulb 19 is reflected by the object into apertures 15, 16 and two images are formed at the ocular 21 by mirrors 22, 23 the latter being rotated about a pin 25 until the images are superimposed. The battery 3 operates the bulb 19 through leads 3a and a circuit control button may be provided. The mirror 23 is connected to a lever 24 which is rotated by a flange 26 (against which it is spring urged) of a cylinder 8 which has a helical scale marked on it which may be viewed through a window 12. This cylinder has a pin 5 which passes through a slot 7 in a sleeve 6 and engages a groove in the battery shell 2. The sleeve 6 is connected to a knob 9 so that when this knob is rotated the cylinder 8 is moved axially and angularly and rotates through lever 24 the mirror 23. A knob 11 which connects the knob 9 to the shell 2 prevents this shell from moving axially with respect to cylinder 6.
