881,080. Holders for containers. TOOTHILL, G. Oct. 28, 1958 [Oct. 28, 1957], No. 33533/57. Class 66. A holder for a milk bottle 16 comprises a handle 18 having a support member 10 at one end and a cap 36 with pouring lip 52 at the other end. The upper end of the handle 18 is forked to receive a lever 24 pivotally mounted on a pin 26 passing through the handle, the lever 24 also being forked to form arms 30 which pass either side of the neck of the milk bottle and carry pegs 48 engaging in notches 46 formed on each side of the cap 36. The arms 30 are forced downwards by the action of a spring 32 engaging the other end of the lever 24. The cap 36 has annular recesses 38 and 40, which may receive the lips of bottles of different sizes, and an aperture 54 closed by a cover 56 on the end of a tiltable member 58 connected to the remainder of the cap by a strip of material 60, the cap being of flexible plastics material, e.g. polythene. The member 58 carries a thumb piece 62, and urges the cover 56 to close the aperture 54 by the action of a rubber block 64. The cover may be made separately from the cap and pivoted thereto. The holder is of metal or plastics, and may be coloured or given a decorative coating.
