880,807. Castings. KONINKLIJKE NEDERLANDSCHE HOOGOVENS EN STAALFABRIEKEN N.V. Jan. 13, 1959 [Jan. 14, 1958], No. 1278/59. Class 83 (1). Ingot moulds in a casting machine are slanted during solidification so as to produce an asymmetric ingot, e.g. Fig. 3, which may be identified. The mould may be slanted longitudinally or transversely or in a direction combining these two directions. Casting marks 1 in various positions on the ingot may be associated with the slanting to provide a number of distinguishable combinations. The slant may be achieved by lifting one side of the mould conveyer above the level of the other, or a stretch of one or both sides of the conveyer may be raised over a range 11, Fig. 9.
