Abstract

971,268. Continuous casting - machines. SCHLOEMANN A.G. Dec. 28, 1961 [Dec. 28, 1960], No. 46390/61. Heading B3F. In a continuous casting plant a number of dummy ingots 1, 1a 1b are mounted in a movable device 2 so that any particular one may be brought in line with the mould from the side, and a pusher 18, actuated by a cable drive, pushes the said dummy ingot at least far enough to engage between the driving rollers. The dummy ingot headpiece 23 is conveyed by lifting means 24 and a shoot 25 to the head of the dummy ingot and secured thereto. The device 2 may be in the form of a rotating table and the plant may be for horizontal continuous casting.
