Abstract

879,643. Knitting-machines. COTTON Ltd., WILLIAM. Dec. 30, 1957 [Sept. 29, 1956], No. 29788/56. Class 74 (2). Point bars carrying preformed fabric portions are mounted on carriers 5, 5<SP>1</SP> which are supported on a rail 2 so that they may be conveyed from a loading station LS at the end of a straight-bar machine to the divisions of the machine. Each carrier may carry sufficient bars to supply half the divisions of the machine, stopping in turn adjacent each division to enable the point bars to be transferred to the divisions and the empty bars to be placed on the carrier. The rail may extend completely around the machine so that the carriers move in one direction only and a motor driven endless belt having projections to engage the carriers may be provided for returning the carriers to the loading position after the point bars have been transferred to the divisions.
