Abstract

879,560. Doctors for paper-making machinery &c. DOMINION ENGINEERING WORKS Ltd. Feb. 2, 1960, No. 3662/60. Class 96. A doctor, e.g. for preventing wood fibres from accumulating on the surface of a steam-heated cylindrical drum 6 rotating vertically in a tank of paper pulp ,&c. has a helically fitted scraper 5, e.g. of circular, triangular, rectangular, or trapezium, or arcuate cross-section, which may be secured by clamping against the endfaces of brackets 10 and 12 which are integral with extensions of bearing blocks of the drum 6. In a modification, the scraper 5 is wound up at one end on a reel so that when the working portion of the blade is worn out it may be replaced by unwinding the required length from the reel. The doctoring pressure may be adjusted by adjusting the tension of the blade.
