Abstract
879,375. Automatic circuit-breakers; switches held set and freed mechanically; switch cases. I-T-E. CIRCUIT BREAKER CO. Feb. 6, 1958, No. 3963/58. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXXVI] A multi-phase circuit-breaker has current limiting fuses arranged in a removable housing and operatively connected with the tripper bar of the circuit-breaker so that the blowing of any fuse or the removal of the housing causes operation of the tripper bar to effect the opening of the circuit-breaker. The circuit-breaker construction is similar to that of Specification 783,366 without the bimetallic and electromagnetic tripping devices. In Fig. 5 a bar 64 is associated with the tripper bar 16 as shown and the bias of a spring 65 tending to move the bar to its tripping position is normally overcome by a spring 71 acting on a lever assembly 68 pivoted at 69 in the removable housing 50. On the blowing of a fuse 25, a striker pin 74 turns the lever assembly 68 to permit the movement of bar 64 under the bias of the spring 65 to trip the circuit-breaker. The movement of the bar 64 also occurs when the housing 50 with the lever assembly 68 is removed from the circuit-breaker. Specification 869,424 also is referred to.
