879,150. Vehicle lamp lenses. LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd., JOSEPH. June 9, 1960 [June 17, 1959], No. 20744/59. Class 75(2). A lens for vehicle lamps especially cycle lamps is moulded of translucent or transparent material and includes an outer peripheral flange 2 for mounting the lens on the body of the lamp, a frusto-conical part 1 having stepped external and internal surfaces defining a series of prisms and a central hollow boss 4 extending from the inner peripnery of tne part 1 to accommodate an electric lamp bulb 5 so that all the light falling on the part 1 from a bulb correctly positioned in the boss is reflected at the surface of the part 1 or internally totally reflected within the prisms to form an outwardly directed parallel beam. The front of the boss 4 may be closed by disc 7 shaped to form a lens producing a second beam of light parallel to the axis of the part 1.
