Abstract

878,724. Vehicle lamps. LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd., JOSEPH. March 11, 1960 [March 17, 1959], No. 9152/59. Class 75(4). A vehicle lamp comprises a moulding transparent or translucent material consisting of a reflector part 7 of parabolic form to the rear convex surface 8 of which is applied a mirror surface, an integral and forwardly extending hollow boss 9 at the centre of the reflector part, the boss being adapted to accommodate an electric lamp bulb with its filament at the focal point of the reflector part, and an integral flange 10 or bevel at the periphery of the reflector part whereby the moulding can be attached to a body part 1. The front closed end of the boss has the shape of a plano-convex lens. The moulding may be formed from glass or a plastic material. The mirror surface may comprise a deposit of aluminium in vapour form on the plastic material. The flange 10 overlaps a reduced rim 11 on the body part the lower part of the flange may be recessed and have an integral tongue piece 12 which engages within the end of the body part. Within the body is a lamp holder 3 and electric contact 5. A flexible catch 14 fits over the upper side of the body part and has a hook-like portion adapted to engage the front of the hood portion 13 to hold the moulding in position on the body part.
