Abstract

878,524. Stop motions, alarms and signals. BREUNING, E. March 24 1958 [March 27, 1957], No. 9355/58. Classes 120(2) and 120(3) [Also in Group XXXVI] Breakage of a thread in a textile machine particularly a spinning mill machine is detected by an electrode or electrodes contacted by the broken thread to control the charging of a condenser, which is intermittently connected to a warning or control circuit. In the arrangement of Fig. 2, the broken thread bridges electrodes 6, 7 completing a charging circuit through resistor 14 for a condenser 15. Contact 16 periodically connects this condenser to an amplifying and pulse lengthening circuit to operate a relay which in turn controls a warning device and stops the machine. In an alternative arrangement (Fig. 3, not shown), one electrode only is provided which is earthed by the broken thread. Earth is connected to the positive of the supply and the electrode is at 200V. negative. A number of electrodes may each be connected with its charging circuit which is connected by a rotating switch (Figs. 4, 5, not shown) to the amplifier circuit while a corresponding indicator is connected to the amplifier output.
