[Also in Group VII] A button-hole is formed in a woven or knitted nylon &c. fabric by stitching the outline of the button-hole in the fabric, then cutting through the fabric inside the outline while simultaneously heating the cut fabric edges to fuse them. A heated cutting device as described in Specification 878,414 is used. The Provisional Specification describes also methods wherein the steps of stitching, cutting and fusing are carried out in different orders.
