Abstract
878,076. Measuring electrically. DIETERT CO., HARRY, W. July 9, 1958, No. 22053/58. Class 40 (1). [Also in Group XXXVI] In a system for measuring and controlling the moisture content of bulk granular material, e.g. foundry moulding sand, in which the material is used as the dielectric of a capacitive measuring device (see Group XXXVI), compsnation for variation of temperature of the test material is obtained by comparing the output of a thermo-junction 38, located on a container 10 holding the test material, with that of a potentiometer 44, the error signal being converted in an inverse rectifier 40a, and fed via a transformer 40b to amplifiers 40c, 40d, the output of which operates an A.C. motor 42 to drive the potentiometer wiper to a null position, the pointer of an indicator 41, and a cam 46 which in turn operates a variable capacitor 48 to provide a capacitance representative of the temperature of the test material in the measuring and controlling circuit 53.
