Abstract
877,909. Beet-harvesters. APPEL, H. C. Feb. 22, 1960, No. 6226/00. Class 6(3). In a beet-harvester of the type having 4 pairs of mutually-inclined beet-lifting wheels which prise the beets from the gound, each wheel comprises two parts, viz. a hub, Fig. 4, and a rim, Fig. 3 ; the hub has a plurality of radial spokes 19 which are secured, by bolts 25, to similar spokes 33 extending inwardly from the inner periphery of the rim 14 which is provided with integral lugs 28 along its outwardly-tapering edge 31. The pairs of spoke-halves 19, 33 are joined by rebated surfaces 22, 23 and the composite spokes taper outwardly from a point 26 of maximum thickness to the rim. Curved webs 21 extend between the spokes.
