Abstract
877,747. Variable-speed gear. DANHORST, E. G. M. March 31, 1960 [July 1, 1959], No. 11359/60. Class 80 (2). A continuously variable friction gear comprises a spherical disc 7 fast with an output pulley 8 and engaged by a conical nylon roller 3 fast on an input shaft, e.g. of a driving motor 4, carried by a member 1 which pivots at 2 on a fixed frame 20. The roller 3 is axially loaded by cams 23 in response to the reaction torque of the motor 4, which is permitted limited axial and rotational movement relative to the frame 1. The hubs 10, 25 of the disc 7 and roller 3 respectively are slatted to form impellers which circulate cooling air.
