Abstract
877,704. Rumbling. OETIKER, H. July 8, 1960 [July 9, 1959], No. 23913/60. Class 60. Secondary treatment of formed parts is effected by placing a number of the parts in a container together with grinding or polishing elements and a liquid treatment medium containing borax, and rotating the container. The parts may have been produced by stamping, pressing or drawing and the secondary treatment may be for the purpose of completing their form or shape by grinding, trimming or bevelling, for preparing their surface for subsequent galvanizing or varnishing by cleaning, removing rot and smoothing, or for polishing. For grinding, an aqueous solution containing from 0À5 to 20 gm. of borax per litre is used ; wetting and cleansing media may be added. When the parts treated are of iron, it may be necessary to add a passivator, e.g. sodium nitrate. For polishing, a viscosityincreasing agent, e.g. carboxmethylcellulose is added to the solution. A slippiness-increasing material, e.g. lime, albumin or gum-arabic, may be added to the solution.
