Abstract

An abrasive composition comprises, by volume: (a) 15-25 per cent powdered cork, suitably of particle size 70-400 m ; and (b) 85-75 per cent abrasive, suitably calcium carbonate, sand, pumice powder, tripoli, "Celite," carborundum, or emery. The composition may be produced as a paste by addition of soap solution, or in bar or cake form by tableting with a binder such as glue or tallow. Glycerol, detergents such as those known by the Registered Trade Marks "Teepol," "Lissapol-C" and "Lissapol-N," triethanolamine, mineral oil, and oleic acid may also be incorporated. Specification 728,877, [Group XXIII], is referred to.ALSO:A toothpaste comprises, by volume, 1 part of cork dust and 4 parts of calcium carbonate, the paste being formed by mixing with soap solution to the required consistency.
