Abstract
Anions and cations are removed from solution as an insoluble scum by frothing the product of the solution contacted with a substance which has a hydrophilic group of opposite charge and an aerophilic group. The substances are in general those used for froth-flotation processes for mineral dressing. The substance should be used in quantities which avoid colloidal sol formation.
