Abstract

877,546. Lamps. SEIMENS-REINIGERWERKE A.G. Jan. 1, 1960 [Jan. 3, 1959], No. 114/60. Classes 75(2) and 75(4). A lamp comprises a housing having a translucent front wall and a translucent bottom wall and containing a substantially planar reflector and a substantially ellipsoidal reflector having a point source of light at one of the foci, part of the light being directed by the ellipsoidal reflector in a pencil through the front wall and part reflected by the planar reflector and radiated diffusely through the translucent walls. In the form shown, the lamp comprises a substantially rectangular housing 10 having an incandescent lamp bulb 9, the filament 8 of which forms a point source of light, supported from the roof 16. The front wall 11 and bottom wall 12 are formed in one piece from translucent material. An ellipsoidal reflector 13 is disposed against the rear wall 14 so that the filament 8 is at one of the foci, and a planar reflector 15 is mounted on the roof 16 of the housing. A substantially spherical reflector 17 is disposed between the bulb 9 and the front wall 11. The lamp may be used in conjunction with a dental chair, the forwardly directed pencil of rays illuminating the patient's mouth and the rays diffused through the front and bottom walls illuminating a working area comprising the chair, an instrument table and adjacent parts of the dental unit.
