877,292. Semi-conductor rectifiers. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. May 16, 1958, No. 15792/58. Addition to 807,637. Class 37. A dry rectifier assembly comprises a rectangular metal casing 1, the base of which has coplanar lugs 2 drilled for fixture in good heatconducting contact to a flat metal support, the internal surfaces of the casing being coated with a film 22 of an electrically insulating, heat conducting material, and a stack of rectifier plates 31 and terminal plates 32 being fitted tightly within the casing and impregnated after assembly with a heat conducting thermoplastic or thermosetting material. The casing may be formed from a single piece of aluminium which has a coating of polyethylene or polyvinyl-chloride on one side, or it may be die-cast from light alloy, the internal surfaces being coated in known manner. In view of the risk of insulation breakdown at the internal corners of the casing, the sides parallel with the rectifier and terminal plates may be dished inwards as at 23, to provide outstanding flats on the coated sides.
