Abstract

877,189. Bundling-machines. GERRARD INDUSTRIES Ltd., and RYLANDS BROS. Ltd. Oct. 23, 1959, No. 36064/59. Class 94(1). A coil binding machine substantially as described in Specification 816,675 is modified in that the gripper is caused automatically to release the wire upon downwards movement of the work-head and operation of the wire tensioning device causes the gripper to close on the wire inserted within it. The gripper 18 is opened and closed by an arm 22 pivoted at 23 and connected to a push rod 25. As the head descends, a cam 26 engages the push rod to release the gripper, the rod being maintained in the release position by a latch 27. Rotation of the shaft 6 driving the feed rollers 5, when in the tensioning direction lowers the latch to allow the gripper to be closed by spring means, Fig. 2 (not shown), acting on the lever 22.
