Abstract
20 to 150 parts of an arylene polyisocyanate, 100 parts of a synthetic resin reactive therewith, and 1-60 parts of a substantially inert volatile blowing agent, and water if desired, are reacted at a temperature which vaporizes the blowing agent to produce a foamed polyurethane. Resins specified are alkyds, a number being exemplified, and lists of suitable polyisocyanates and blowing agents are given, the latter being limited to aliphatic hydrocarbons, di-alkyl ethers and mixed halogenated hydrocarbons containing fluorine of B.Pt. below 75 DEG C. and must not produce foam shrinkage. One or more high molecular weight thermoplastic polymers soluble in the isocyanate, e.g. ethyl or benzyl cellulose, chlorinated natural rubber, natural rubber, or polyvinyl chloride may also be included.ALSO:20 to 150 parts of an arylene polyisocyanate, 100 parts of a synthetic resin reactive therewith, and 1 to 60 parts of a substantially inert volatile blowing agent, and water if desired, are reacted at a temperature which vaporizes the blowing agent to produce a foamed polyurethane.
