Abstract

A mixture of cork and foamed polyurethane (5-100% based on cork) particles is impregnated with a polyurethane resin and moulded into a desired shape. The cork particles have a size of 2.5-325 mesh (U.S.). Impregnation is effected with the resin (or reactants) in liquid or solution form. The resin may be formed in situ from a polyurethane prepolymer having free isocyanate groups and a chain extender, a foamed resin thereby being formed. 5-100% of resin (based on total particles) may be employed. Moulding may be effected at 35-300 DEG C.ALSO:Cork particles are impregnated with a polyurethane resin and moulded into a desired shape. The cork particles have a size of 2.5-325 mesh (US). Impregnation is effected with the resin (or reactants) in liquid or solution form. The resin may be formed in situ from a polyurethane prepolymer having free isocyanate groups and a chain extender, a foamed resin thereby being formed. The cork particles may be pre-mixed with 5-100% of foamed polyurethane or pvc particles. 5-100% of resin (based on total particles) may be employed. Moulding may be effected at 35-300 DEG C.
