Abstract
876,885. Counting-apparatus. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 18, 1959 [June 24, 1958], No. 20240/58. Class 106 (1). In apparatus for counting small objects such as the sapphire tips of gramophone needle styli, the objects are fed one at a time down a shoot 2 from which they fall on to a disc 3 rigidly attached to a piezo-electric crystal 4. The electric pulses so produced are fed to an amplifier 7 and shaper 9 to trigger a flip-flop 11 to produce square pulses which are counted on an electronic counter 13, the counted-down output of which may be applied to an electromechanical counter. The shaper 9 has a slightly longer recovery time than the crystal to prevent double counting due to the overswing voltage from the crystal.
