Class 98(1) A photographic camera wherein setting members, a first for the diaphragm aperture and a second for, the exposure time, are so interconnected by a transmission means that it is possible to obtain an adjustment of either member independently of the other when setting an exposure value and to obtain an adjustment of both members interdependently one on the other when changing the exposure time diaphragm aperture combination of a given exposure value setting is characterized by a planet gear which is mounted on an adjustable carrier coupled to the first or second setting members and which is coupled to an exposure value setting member and to the other of the first and second setting members in the manner of a differential gear, whereby with any setting member in a fixed position, movement of any other setting member causes corresponding movement of the remaining setting member. As shown, the exposure value setting member 1, the diaphragm setting member 5, and the exposure time setting member 4, which members may be in the form of slides, rings or discs, are interconnected by means of a planet gear 7 on a movable carrier 6, two gears 15, 16 rigidly inter-connected and rotatable about fixed axis 17, a movable bar 8, and a gear 9 rotatable about a fixed axis 11, the various racked portions engaged by gear teeth being indicated by reference numerals having the postscript a. To set the camera to a certain exposure value, handle 3b is depressed to disengage tip 3a from notches 2a, and member 1 is adjusted until the index 19 comes opposite the required exposure value on fixed scale 18. The exposure time-diaphragm aperture combination as then set and as indicated on fixed exposure time scale 13 and diaphragm aperture scale 14 by index 12, may be changed, at constant exposure value, by adjusting either member 4 or 5. Setting member 1 may be coupled, for example by way of a cam member 20 and an axially displaceable pin 23, with an exposure meter (not shown). Allowance for film sensitivity may be made by adjusting member 20 relative to member 1, tip 21a being operable by handle 21b to engage any one of the notches 1b and a film sensitivity scale 24 being provided on member 20 for co-operation with index 19. In modifications, members 1 and 4 or 4 and 5 may be interchanged. For use with interchangeable objectives, gears 15, 16 may be replaced by other similar gears to match adjustment characteristics of different diaphragm mechanisms. If the invention is not to be used with interchangeable objectives, then gears 15, 16 may be dispensed with and member 5 may be directly connected to carrier 6.
