Abstract

876,149. Cartons. RECKITT & SONS Ltd., and ETCHES, K. C. April 17, 1959 [April 29, 1958], No. 13614 /58. Class 18. A carton, Fig. 2, made from the blank shown in Fig. 4, has a portion 11 secured by adhesive to the adjacent side 19 and has a portion 21 not so secured to facilitate opening. The side 19 has a score line 13 to assist tearing of the side when the carton is opened. The carton is formed by first folding sides 16-19 to tubular form and securing the portion 11, then folding in extensions 22, 34 and securing them with glue, and finally after filling the carton the extensions 24, 36 are folded in and glued. The outer surface of the blank can be printed with printing ink which acts as an adhesive repellant and prevents the portion 21 sticking to side 19. The upper edges 20, 28 are torn when the carton is opened. When reclosing the carton, the portion 11 is tucked inside the side 19.
