Abstract
875,951. Loading freight carriers on to vehicles. AUTOBAVA OY. Jan. 9, 1958 [Jan. 11, 1957], No. 915/58. Class 78 (4). The tipping chassis 15, Fig. 1, of a motor lorry has a winch 23 mounted on it for drawing up a load-carrying platform 19 by means of two ropes 28 attachable to hooks 29, Fig. 2, on the platform. The hooks 29 are slidable in sleeves 33 and interconnected by a rope 31, so that loads skew to the lorry chassis can be picked up. Surfaces 41, Fig. 4, on the front ends of the platform members. 19 guide the platform into a position where it is resting on rollers 13, 14 on the tipping chassis with its members 19 engaging flanges of the rollers and straddling the members 15 of the chassis, the wires 27 engaging grooves 27 in the rollers and in guides 38 attached to the platform members 19. The platform is held in its raised position by a lug which engages an aperture in the rearwardly-directed straight end of a verticallydisposed flat spiral spring attached to the tipping chassis, or by a transverse angle iron which engages in front of a lug on the end of the spring. In either case the lock is released by a manually-operated pivoted lug which deflects the spring. The front and rear ends of the platform are prevented from lifting away from the chassis by transverse angle irons of which the horizontal parts engage under corresponding irons on the chassis when the platform is fully raised.
