Abstract

[Also in Division E2] In a method for loading a transport container 24 on to a lorry fitted with a tipping chassis 3 on a chassis 1 and a transferable platform 8 which can be drawn on to the chassis 3 and lowered to the ground by winch reels 6 and wires 7, the chassis 3 is tilted by a device 4 (Fig. 1) which may be hydraulic cylinders 5 (Fig. 2) and the platform 8 lowered to the ground in front of the container 24 which is supported, e.g. on bundles of boards 44 so that the platform 8 may be pushed under it. The platform 8 comprises two parallel side beams 9 connected by supports 11 with upright poles 10 at the front. Guide plates 15 provided with locking devices (see Division E2) form extensions to supporting plates 13. Locking devices (see Division E2) with hooks 43 are provided at the rear end of the beams 9. When the platform 8 has been lowered to the ground (Fig. 1) the lorry reverses to push against the poles 10 so that the platform 8 passes under the container 24, a roller 17 supporting the rear end of the platform 8, until the forward end of the container, guided by the plates 15, rests against transversal bar 12. The front end of the platform 8 is then lifted slightly to enable the front and rear locking devices to be locked to clamp the container 24 to the platform 8. The platform 8 with the container 24 is drawn on to the tipping chassis 3 which is then lowered to the chassis 1 and locked thereto by means not shown. Unloading is carried out by reversal of the above steps. Staple goods may be loaded by the above method.
