Class 98(2) In a photographic process wherein an exposed and developed silver halide emulsion layer is fixed with an alkali-metal or ammonium thiocyanate, the emulsion layer is treated after development with an ascorbic acid or salt thereof. The ascorbic acid may be added to the fixing solution or may be used in a separate solution after fixing. The invention is particularly applicable to the fixing of silver halide emulsions which contain developing agents and have been rapidly developed by means of caustic alkali solution.
