875,251. Tiles &c. BRAX, E. K. Nov. 3, 1959, No. 37198/59. Class 87(1) A wall cladding unit, such as a tile, has on two opposed edges, formations which interlock with formations on the adjacent edge of an adjacent similar tile, each such edge being formed with a groove, 4 or 8, and a lip 5 or 9, so that at each interlocked joint there are two lips engaged in two grooves. When the interlocking formations are engaged with each other, the units must first be in inclined positions relative to each other and then brought into co-planar relationship. In the form shown, a step 11 on a portion of one unit extending beneath the other unit, locks the units together in a direction parallel to the surface to which the units are applied. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown) one of the two units has a lip of curved crosssection received in a complementary groove in the edge of the other unit whereby the units are locked together in the direction parallel to the supporting surface. The units are secured to the supporting surface by fastening means 12.
