[Also in Group XXIII] A control system for a glass-washing machine which washes with detergent and then rinses with hot and cold water consecutively includes a booster tank 18 for hot water provided with a heater 29 and a thermostat 36 with contacts 29a and 36a. When the water reaches the desired temperature of 190‹ F. contacts 36a close and light up pilot light 35 to show that the machine is ready for operation. Momentary closure of starter switch 34 completes a circuit through relay 37 closing contacts 38 and 39, the former completing a circuit to timer motor 26a while the latter completes a holding circuit via contacts 26c and also energizes detergent supply solenoid 48. After a suitable period, timer 26a opens contacts 26c and closes contacts 26b, de-energizing solenoids 37 and 38, the motor 26a being kept running by normally closed contacts 40. The closure of contacts 27b energizes time lag solenoid 27a which closes contacts 41 for a controlled period during which solenoid 19a is energized and operates the hot water valve, while the energization of solenoid 40a opens contacts 40 and thus prevents the timer from moving while hot water is being supplied. At the end of the controlled period contacts 41 open and the timer motor continues to operate until it is interrupted again by the supply of hot water for rinsing. Contacts 14a operated by the timing cams control the impeller motor and the dump valve 31a so that the motor is stopped when the valve is open.
