Abstract
874,931. Mounting electrical equipment. GRIFFITH, J. W. Feb. 10, 1960, No. 4641/60. Class 37. A mounting device for electrical components comprises an electrically insulating head, carrying a plurality of spaced terminal lugs, supported by at least one pedestal having projecting from the opposite end an extension of different cross-section to pass through a hole against which the pedestal will abut. The extension may be made of material capable of being deformed by heat and pressure so as to secure the pedestal to a base. A flat cylindrical head 10, including terminal lugs 18 supporting components 19 such as resistors, is supported on a pedestal 12 having an extension 14 forming a shoulder 16, the head and pedestal being of any non-conducting material. The extension 14, made of a heat deformable substance such as nylon, is passed through hole 28 in the chassis 26 and on the application of heat the end is swaged over to form an enlarged bead 30 thus securing the arrangement to the chassis. Bores 20, 22 carrying conductors 24 may be moulded in the pedestal and head, Fig. 2, and also through the extentions, Figs. 4, 5, 8, 9 (not shown), to enable components on both sides of the chassis to be interconnected. In another embodiment, Fig. 6, an elongated cylindrical head 44, carrying terminal lugs 58, is supported by spaced pedestals 46. The extensions may be threaded and the arrangements held in position by a nut or snap-ring. Terminal lugs 60, 62 may be extended to connect with printed circuit 64, 66.
