874,926. Screw propulsion and steering means. PENTA A.B. Nov. 17, 1959 [March 24, 1959], No. 38997/59. Class 114. A marine power unit comprising an inboard motor 6 connected to a transmission gear in a case 17 arranged outside the stern 1 of the boat, has a base plate 3 secured to the stern, which plate supports the power unit by means of a supporting and sealing device. The motor 6 has a flywheel case 7 with a neck portion 8 extending into an opening in the base plate and forming with a flange portion 9 of said plate annular spaces for sealing rings 12, 13. The neck 8 houses a bearing 16 for the output shaft of the motor, which shaft is connected by a universal joint to the shaft 18 and transmission drive to the propeller 23. The base plate 3 has a bracket 26 supporting the case 17 in such a way that the latter may be rotated to steer the boat. Additional support for the motor 6 may be provided below the case 7 by means of a boss 32 projecting from the base plate, a lug 29 on the case 7 and a cushion member 30.
