Abstract
874,372. Voltage multiplying circuits. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd., BRABHAM, H. B. S., and RIBCHESTER, E. Nov. 3, 1959 [Nov. 10, 1958], No. 36026/58. Classes 38 (2) and 38 (4). In a rectifying circuit e.g. a voltage-doubling circuit for supplying a flash tube as described in Specification 874,252 an output capacitor such as the further capacitor 9 is such e.g. electrolytic, that above a predetermined voltage its leakage current greatly increases. This limits the voltage across the capacitor and consequently the output voltage of the circuit to a predetermined voltage. The time taken to attain the predetermined voltage may be decreased by using a supply voltage having a peak value exceeding the output voltage.
