875,714. Converting. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 28, 1959 [Sept. 8, 1958], No. 28804/58. Class 38 (2). [Also in Group XL (c)] A circuit for producing pulses at the control electrode of a thyratron or a three-electrode semi-conductor rectifier, having a controllable phase relative to the A.C. input voltage of the rectifier comprises a transistor X1 having applied between its base and the collector supply terminal an A.C. voltage 90 degrees out of phase with the rectifier input voltage. A control voltage V1 is applied to the base of a transistor X2 and by varying this voltage the conduction angle of the transistor for the A.C. voltage V2 is varied so that current pulses flow in the collector of transistor X1 having variable marked space ratio. These pulses are differentiated by a transformer T1 to provide short pulses having a phase relative to the rectifier input voltage which depends upon the value of the control voltage V1.
