Abstract

874,332. Blasting fuzes. MONTECATINI SOC. GENERALE PER L'INDUSTRIA MINERARIA E CHIMICA. June 27, 1958 [July 29, 1957], No. 20666/58. Addition to 842,043. Class 9(1). An electric fuze, as in the parent Specification in which a safety element shortcircuiting the electric supply leads is moved out of the short-circuiting position before the fuze is fired, is rendered additionally safe by a gap in one of the leads between the fuzehead and the short-circuit, the gap being closed by the safety element when it leaves the short - circuiting position. The two leads 8 to the fuzehead 1 are short-circuited by a metal core 2 in contact with a metal conductor 13 grounded by the casing 7. One lead 8 is interrupted between the parts 14, 15. The core 2 is mounted on a pin 11 supported by a wire 12 connecting conductors 3, 4 independent of the firing circuit. On passing a current through the circuit 3, 4, 12, the wire 12 fuses and spring 6 pushes the core 2 towards the fuzehead 1 until it bridges the gap between the parts 14, 15 and thus arms the fuze.
