874,022. Flexible tubing. POWER AUXILIARIES Ltd. Sept. 18, 1959 [July 10, 1958; Oct. 27, 1958], Nos. 22135/58. and 34267/58. Class 99(1). Flexible metal tubing 3, particularly helically or annularly corrugated tubing, is enclosed in a metal braided sheath 5 and attached to an end fitting 1 provided with a shoulder 12 between a reduced diameter portion of the fitting and that part of the fitting to which the tube is attached. The braid is passed over the shoulder 12 into the reduced diameter part and clamped to the shoulder by a trapping ring 8 which is held by suitable means against axial movement away from the shoulder. As shown in Fig. 1, the fitting has an annular groove 2 within which the tubing is secured by soldering or welding and an under cut peripheral groove 6. A split ring 8 having parallel or flared walls is driven into the groove 6 to trap the braid 5 therein and a cover sleeve 11 is disposed over the fitting. In modifications, (a) the braid is further secured between the end of the fitting remote from the tubing and a swaged over end of the sleeve 11, and (b) the ring 8 is moved into the braid trapping position by a ring 18, Fig. 5, screwed on or welded to the fitting or held by a spun over end of the sleeve 11.
