Abstract

838,070. Flexible hoses ; hose couplings. FLEXONICS CORPORATION. June 5, 1956 [Sept. 21, 1955], No. 17382/56. Classes 99(1) and 99(2). In a hose comprising a number of small tubes 12 in contiguous relation, a coupling 16 joined to the tubes at one end of the tubes has a bore substantially larger than that of the individual tubes, and there are means embracing the tubes to limit bending of the hose construction. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the metal, glass, rubber, or plastic tubes 12 are helically wound together, and the end couplings 16 each have a web 24 provided with holes 26 in which the tubes are secured by brazing, soldering or welding. In modifications, the tubes are formed with helical or annular corrugations and covered with a tubular, metal wire, braid, and a cable or rope, preferably of wire, passing through the centre of the hose prevents elongation of the hose; the latter is surrounded by a rigid, flared sleeve of metal or a braided sheath.
