Abstract

873,849. Tables &c. KNOLL ASSOCIATES Inc. Jan. 3, 1958 [May 2, 1957], No. 301/58. Class 52(3). The hollow pedestal 2 of a table or the like has an outwardly flaring portion 2b terminating in an annular foot 2c and housing a weight 6 engaged by a nut 8 and washer 7 received on rod 5 passing through an aperture in the weight and engaging at its other end a threaded bushing 4 in an aperture in a block 3 secured to the table top. Studs 9 integral with portion 2b project through apertures in weight 6 and receive spring washers 10 which engage the studs and prevent downward movement of the weight. In a modification Fig. 3 the upper part 14c of the column 14 is secured to the table top 13 by screws 18 and the weight 15 is secured on a stud 14d by a spring washer 16. In a further modification Fig. 5 the top 13 has a block 23 bonded thereto and a rod 25 threaded into the solid middle section of the pedestal 22 engages a threaded bush 24 in block 23.
