873,821. Drying materials in long lengths. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMSONHOUSTON. Nov. 4, 1959 [Nov. 4, 1958], No. 37380/59. Class 34(1) [Also in Group XXIII] A wire enamelling machine 1 comprises an enamelling oven 2 which can be opened and includes a top part 4 and bottom part 3 pivoted together about horizontal hinges 5 to give access to the chamber 6. Each part 3, 4 contains heating means along the length of the chamber 6. The wire 7 is fed from a bobbin 8 secured to the shaft 7 on motor 9 and passes over an idler pulley 10 to a combined driving and guiding pulley 11 positively driven. The wire 7 passes through the chamber 6 a number of times, as shown at 13, being guided by a pulley 12 and the pulley 11 and a varnish or enamel application is provided between the pulley 11 and the entry 14 to the chamber 6. The ventilating chimney 19 is positioned between the ends 14, 15 of the chamber 6 instead of at the end and is preferably two-thirds of the way along the chamber.
