Abstract
Relates to compounds of the general formula: <FORM:0873533/IV (b)/1> wherein X is an oxygen or sulphur atom and R is a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl group and nontoxic salts thereof, and to their preparation by reacting 6-amino-penicillanic acid or an easily hydrolysed ester, an alkali or alkaline earth metal salt or tertiary amine salt thereof with a reagent of the general formula R-N =C=X wherein X and R are as above. The Specification refers to many compounds of the above formula, typical examples being 6-phenylureido-, 6-(3-chlorophenylureido)-, 6-(2-methoxyphenylureido)-, 6-cyclohexylureido-and 6-n-propylureido penicillanic acid, prepared by use as reagent of phenyl, m-chloro-phenyl, o-methoxyphenyl, cyclohexyl and n-propyl isocyanate respectively, and to salt thereof, particularly the triethylammonium and potassium salts.
