Abstract

873,525. Moulding bearings. AMERICAN METAL PRODUCTS CO. July 21, 1958 [Aug. 26, 1957], No. 23343/58. Class 87(2). [Also in Group XXXIV] Plastic material 20 is injection moulded between a member 24 and a housing 6, and hardened to form a bearing for the member. The member 24 may comprise a shaft having a plain or grooved end 26 and the material 20 is injected through an opening 22 in the housing 6. Thermoplastic and/or thermosetting materials with or withour fillers may be used, examples being given. The inside of the housing 6 may be screw threaded or roughened to grip the material 20. The invention may also be applied to a ball joint, Fig. 3, (not shown), and a sliding bearing Figs. 4, 5, (not shown).
