Abstract

764,135. Bearing bushes. SPRIGGS, J. D. Jan. 14, 1955 [Jan. 15, 1954], No. 1227/55. Class 12 (1). A bearing comprises a metal sleeve 10 having a grooved bore in which a synthetic resin lining 30 is moulded, the lining having a thickness of about 0.005 inches between the grooves. The ends of the liner have extensions 16, 17 which form dust protectors. Circumferential and longitudinal grooves 11, 12 are shown in Fig. 2, and in a modification the grooves comprise helices 50, 51, Fig. 5, of opposite hand. The resin may be nylon, polythene or polytetrafluoroethylene.
