Class 98(1) In an apparatus for measuring the radiation dosage received by a patient 8, the X-ray tube 1 is contained in a housing 5, an ionisation chamber 6 is mounted on the housing, and a diaphragm having adjustable plates 2, 3 is provided between the tube and the chamber. The flat chamber 6 has an effective measuring surface at least as large as the maximum aperture of the plate 3. A condenser circuit (Fig. 2, not shown) operates a step-by-step switch mechanism which may control display marks on the fluorescent screen 9, so that these marks indicate the dosage being received by the patient. Alternatively, this mechanism may record the information on a card. By introducing into the circuit a variable potentiometer setting dependent on the loading of the X-ray tube, the radiation energy supplied to the body of the patient can be indicated.
