Abstract
872,426. Mixing liquids. KODAK Ltd. July 29, 1957 [Aug. 3, 1956; Oct. 11, 1956], No.24035/57. Class 86 A fluid is introduced into a liquid by being passed between a pair of spaced, rotating cones. The fluid is passed down a rotating hollow tube 1, at the bottom of which it is thrown outwards through ducts 4 to the space between the bases of two cones 2, 3, one of which is hollow. It is thus thrown radically outwards from between the colsely spaced periphiral edges of the cones, into the surrounding liquid. In other forms of the hollow cone the inner surface has concentric annular grooves to provide more even distribution of the fluid, or the fluid is fed into a cylindrical recess at the apex of the cone. Several distributing cones may be provided on a common axis in which case each may be fed from a separate tube, the tubes 'being either concentric or parallel within a common outer tube. Conical guide plates may be fitted outside the mixing cones so as to direct the flow of the main liquid.
