Class 78 (1) In an endless overlapping plate conveyer comprising a pair of endless chains between which is mounted a succession of troughed plates the length of each of which is a multiple of the chain pitch, each plate is connected to the chains at both its leading and trailing ends, the connection at the leading end being by a slotted link to allow for relative movement between the leading ends of the plates and the chain when passing around the terminal sprockets. In one embodiment, Fig. 4, each plate 1 is secured at its trailing end to a spindle 4 mounted in enlarged links 9 of the chains 10 and carrying wheels 5 engaging tracks 12, while the leading end is connected at each side by a pin 6 to the slotted end 7 of a link 8 which is pivoted at its other end to the respective chain. Upon each trough passing around terminal sprockets 15 the links 8 pivot to allow the trough to take up a position on a chord of the chain path. In a second embodiment, Fig. 5, the trailing end of each plate is rigidly secured to a link of each chain 10 by a transverse bar 32 and brackets 34, the wheels 5 being mounted on a separate transverse spindle 36 secured forwardly of the bar 32. The leading end of each plate is provided with a transverse bar 27 to which is pivoted at each end a bent link 29 which is slotted at its lower end to receive an extended chain pin 31 of the respective chain.
