Abstract

872,247. Testing fuel injectors. HARTRIDGE Ltd., LESLIE. Dec. 18, 1957 [Sept. 20, 1956], No. 28770/56. Class 7(3). In apparatus for testing fuel injectors, the injector a is held by a clamp device one jaw of which comprises a nipple 22, at the end of a pressure oil supply duct, adapted to engage a complementary seat in the inlet connection c of the injector whilst the other jaw comprises means 20 to locate and hold the injector when the jaws are urged together. The holder 20 is shaped to fit the injector body closely and is carried by a spring-loaded member 14 slidable along stationary rods 13 by an adjusting screw 16. The oil supply pipe 11 is connected to a member 5 on which is screwed nipple 22 or 22a of appropriate length to engage the complementary seat 23 in the injector inlet connection c. In a modification, Fig. 5, for an injector with an axial inlet connection f, the injector is supported by a stationary plate 33 and the connecting nipple is carried by a flexible oil supply pipe 40 and is urged into fluid tight connection with the inlet connection f by a screw 36.
