Abstract

871,241. Floor cleaners. CIMEX Ltd. Nov. 21, 1957 [Nov. 30, 1956], No. 36762/56. Class 138(1). [Also in Group XXVIII] A floor polishing machine comprises a horizontal cylindrical brush with a housing having walls extending below the axis of rotation of the brush, a rearward triangular extension from the rear wall of the housing with strips attached to its edges yieldably engaging the floor, a suction device connected to the apex of the triangular enclosure, and a motor to rotate the brush mounted on the body of the machine. As shown, a transverse cylindrical brush 1 is enclosed by a housing 4 which has a horizontal triangular rearward extension 5 below the axis of rotation of the brush. Strips of felt 11 enclose the space between extension 5 and the floor, and at the apex of the triangle is fitted a suction unit 15 which delivers air and dust via pipe 17 to collector 16. The brush may be raised out of contact with the floor by depressing its handle 20 causing the machine to pivot about pivot points 21 until adjustable screws 24 engage stops 25. The pressure of the brush when in its operative position is controllable by raising or lowering a roller 26 by means of a knurled wheel 32.
